The administration of the encrypted stored data in the cloud storage solution has also been improved, according to the provider Antispameurope. In addition, the key to the individual online drives of the user can now also be stored in the cloud. The current version of the Hornet client is now available for download for desktop PCs and mobile devices.
Security service provider Antispameurope has now released version 3.2.1 of its cloud storage solution Hornetdrive for Windows, Mac OS and Linux, as well as iOS and Android for download. This brings a number of new features designed to improve the usability and management of a user’s encrypted data stored in online storage.
The most important change in the current version, according to Antispameurope, concerns the storage of the keys to the individual online drives of the user. This means they can no longer be deposited locally on the hard disk, but optionally stored encrypted in the cloud. Using the so-called encrypted key repository, the keys can then be transferred directly to a new device as soon as the user has successfully logged in via the Hornetdrive client. A transfer of the keys to new devices by invitation is then no longer necessary.
Likewise, two new features have been added especially for the Hornetdrive Android App: On the one hand, the Android client can only perform automatic synchronization if the mobile device is located in a WLAN network, so that the user has to pay for mobile data connections avoids. On the other hand, a change history now provides an overview of what changes there have been in the drives used in a specific period defined by the user. The history is then displayed either in the form of a list or as a file tree.
If you have an enterprise license, Hornetdrive now also offers two new features. On the one hand, enterprise users can now configure the client in such a way that the system automatically empties the full recycle bin of a drive after a certain time interval. On the other hand, the number of file versions held on the server can now also be changed after creating a drive.
“We are constantly working to make our solutions even more user-friendly.” With the current release, we have implemented this for Hornetdrive and implemented several functions that bring a significantly improved usability for our users, “explains Oliver Dehning, Managing Director of antispameurope, in a press release.
Hornetdrive generally allows the user to save their data encrypted in the cloud and share it securely with other users. An end-to-end encryption should ensure that all information and files are protected against unauthorized access by third parties. In addition, Antispameurope assures that all data of the users are stored on servers in German data centers and refers in this connection also to the fact that the security service provider as operator is subject to German data protection law.
